Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy is puzzled about the remarks that his girlfriend Katy Perry’s minister mother made about her success. Especially because the singer’s parents have always been most supportive.
Katy Perry’s mum Mary Hudson, an evangelical Christian preacher, told Britain’s Mail on Sunday that she prays for her daughter’s salvation, insisting “I fear she has been led astray by Hollywood.” In the article, Hudson also admits she isn’t a fan of Perry’s I Kissed A Girl summer pop anthem.
This stunned Travis because he always thought his girlfriend’s parents supported her career.
Travis said “Her parents are actually really cool. They are ministers. They never shunned her for her music or her lyrics.”
On a happier note Travis is promising to marry Katy after giving her a promise ring.
“I gave her a promise ring. It was a way of showing her that I wanted to take it (relationship) to another level. We’re not engaged or anything but we’ve been seeing each other for the past three years and I felt it was time to solidify things, so I bought her a ring.”
