How is this any different? Perez Hilton calls autistic children retards.

I am constantly surprised by the nonsensical rambling that I read at PerezHilton.com. Apparently Mario Lavandeira assumes that advertising dollars have provided him with a medical license and a law degree. He constantly makes unsupported statements that are false. If one were to relay theses statements to a professional in that field, they would be quickly dispelled. Then there are the times when Mario Lavandeira makes a statement, that no person with any amount of common sense, decency and compassion would ever make; A statement that is brazenly judgmental and ignorant.

The reason I am writing this is because of the recent remarks made by Michael Savage on his nationally broadcast radio show. Savage told his audience: “They don’t have a father around to tell them, ‘Don’t act like a moron. You’ll get nowhere in life.“ He also added, “Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.” I find this statement particularly disturbing and hurtful to millions of people who are affected by this illness, as well as their families. I was glad to see how many people decided to write and call into the Savage radio show and express their disapproval.

I am shocked however, that prior to Michael Savage, blogger Mario Lavandeira, “PerezHilton” made the following statement in an interview at Sundance Film Festival 2007.

What I found more upsetting is that Age of Autism an online publication decided to tell its readers to head over to PerezHilton.com and thank him for his support. Huh? Yeah. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt, until I realized that a comment from one of their readers below the Perezhilton link pointed out exactly the same thing that I have. It’s been over 2 weeks and nothing has been taken down or even explained.
